Google testing new “local” search box?

Is Google testing a new local search box at the top of the natural search results, which allows people to localize their search phrase? I was actually trying to see the new Google Page Preview test and stumbled across this one.

I have just checked this out on internet explorer and the same search box has appeared – unfortunately at the moment I can’t get it to appear for anything other than florist!!

Looking at Google.Com – there are more phrases showing the search box

This seems like a great idea – and another way that the Google Search is becoming much more engaging.
