2014 Phone Call
Back in 2014, Zaddle received a phone call from James Tod (Managing Director of The British Hamper Company). He explained the vision that he (and his family) had for creating a British Themed International gifting business.
After listening to their vision, Liam suggested that he undertook research to see how people were searching for the type of hampers James and his family were looking to provide.
Deep Dive Research
One of the cornerstones of any business looking at the world wide web to create new sales and clients is research. Usually you are looking for the following:
- How are people ACTUALLY searching for the products or services that you do (rather than assuming it will just “match” your product or service categories).
- Who are your (likely) competitors and what do they rank for.
- Are there any search themes or topics that have good search volume but lower competition (for faster Organic rankings).
- How this research can be implemented on a new (or existing website)
The results were extremely exciting – we went back to James and his family and recommended that alongside his suggested food & drink hampers (from the best Artisan providers across the British Isles), he should consider dietary requirement hampers as part of his offering.
We then created a sitemap that would take advantage of our research (with a view to having opportunities to rank quickly AND have great landing pages for Pay Per Click marketing). We also suggested one of our trusted e-commerce web developers – TJS Web Design in Horncastle.
James trusted our experience and expertise and gave the go ahead to build their e-commerce website.
And our research paid off, The British Hamper company were ranking for dietary hamper searches including:
This meant that despite their website launching in the middle of the year, they were already ranking at the top of Google for dietary requirement hampers by their peak season – Christmas.

Since that phone call we have formed a great partnership with The British Hamper Company and have been delighted to see them go from strength to strength, helping them with multiple marketing services.
In 2024, The British Hamper Company launched their own brand of food items, opening up even more opportunities beyond hamper gifting, and seeing their food products stocked by garden centres, shopping centres and tourist shops including the Tower of London gift shop.
In July 2025, they won 14 Great Taste Awards, meaning they were officially recognised as one of the UK’s finest curators of artisan food. Their superstar product was their Zesty Lemon Curd which was described as “sunshine in a jar” and won the coveted 3-star award, placing it in the top 1.5% of all entries.
