LinkedIn Marketing
Linkedin is a social media platform that allows users to connect with each other for the benefit of business. However there is a lot more to Linkedin than meets the eye.
We have pulled together a number of top tips to help you succeed with your Linkedin Marketing and make the most of this very powerful platform.
1. Make sure your profile is complete.
The most important part of getting a Linkedin strategy right is having a fully complete profile. This includes adding a picture that is professional.
Next, adding a summary of yourself and your personality/career, giving a few recommendations, updating your current and past work experiences, adding your hobbies and interests and as much personal information as you feel comfortable with.
Completing your profile can make you stand out against other users, especially those that have done the bare minimum adding bits to their LinkedIn profile.
Linkedin users like to see fully complete profiles and for that reason, getting business through Linkedin will be a lot easier if this is done.
2. Customize your profile to perfection.
It is very easy to let your profile just look the same as everyone else’s. Customizing your profile is the best way to stand out from the crowd.
Makes sure to add as many things as you can to your profile including your website link, links to posts and information related to what you do and who you are. It is also a good idea to add links to your business since Linkedin is very business orientated.
Don’t miss out on adding images, video and presentations to the most relevant parts of your LinkedIn profile too.
3. Connect to EVERYONE that you can.
It is important not to overdo it when it comes to connections. However the best place to start is by importing all of your Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail and Yahoo contacts into one big Excel file. You can add them to your personal Linkedin network.
Once this is done we would advise searching for connections by using firstly, your location. If a user shares your location, there is a chance that you will be able to help them if they require your service.
But even if they don’t need it there and then, an introduction would never hurt since it may get you business in the future.
Our final step would then be to search for people within your industry. Generally, having connections to people within the same industry as you will help to make your profile more credible.
4. Get recommendations from your connections.
In the real world, if someone recommends you to a friend, they are a lot more likely to use your services than if they come to you off their own back. This applies online too. If possible, it is a good idea to get as many people as you can to endorse you and your services that you are capable of offering.
5. Create a Business Profile.
Once you have a personal profile and can use it to market yourself effectively, the next step is to create a detailed profile for your business that follows all of the above criteria.
The business profile should include a large banner image for your business, links to your website and detailed information on the products & services you offer.
Should you have individual products & services, or sub brands in your business, then you can also set up Showcase pages from your main business profile page. Each showcase gets its own large banner image, own link to deeper pages on your website and a description of what this service provides.
A business profile is the best way to get your business out there into the Linkedin community.
